If you are on a smoothie kick you have got to try out my other fan favorites like my Peanut Paradise Tropical Smoothie Copycat recipe, Triple Berry Oat Tropical Smoothie Copycat Recipe, Chia Banana Boost Tropical Smoothie recipe, or my dupe of the Whole Foods Nutty Monkey Smoothie.

I was first introduced to this simple but perfect and memorably delicious smoothie in my hometown of Portland OR at a small local smoothie shop called Bibo. They sold a strawberry white chocolate smoothie called the Loveland and it was a family favorite. A treat I would look forward to and so delicious that still, 20+ years later I am yearning for (what I still believe to be) the best smoothie I’ve ever had.

Strawberry White Chocolate Smoothie

White chocolate is melted in warm milk until it’s fully incorporated creating a creamy white chocolate milk. Once it cools that is used as the base for this smoothie. White chocolate may sound like a simple addition but it is what makes this strawberry smoothie really special.

If you’re looking for an alternative to white chocolate, try Lily’s lower sugar white chocolate chips.

And if you’d like to amp up the protein simply add a scoop of your favorite protein powder.

Key Ingredients

This creamy strawberries and cream smoothie has such a short and simple list of 4 easy ingredients:

Frozen Strawberries – these are ideal for smoothies. Choose a quality brand that offers juicy, ripe strawberries. You could use fresh but the frozen berries replace the need for ice in this recipe. If you opt for fresh, you’d need to also add +/- 1 cup of ice.

Milk – you can use your favorite type of milk. I use whole milk but all the nut or soy alternatives work just as well.

White Chocolate – use regular white chocolate chips or a lower sugar version. When using the lower sugar ones you may want to add a little honey to adjust for the lack of sweetness. The berries and yogurt can be super tart without much to offset it.

Yogurt – it doesn’t matter whether you prefer Greek or regular yogurt just be sure it is plain and not flavored (unless it’s vanilla which is fine it just adds more carbs/sugar).

How to Make Strawberry White Chocolate Smoothie

First, we’ll make the creamy white chocolate infused milk. To achieve this we will heat the milk in a microwave-safe measuring cup for 1 minute.

Add the white chocolate chips into a bowl then pour over the hot milk stirring until the chocolate fully melts and incorporates into the milk. Allow to cool for 15 minutes.

Then, assemble the smoothie. To a blender add in the white chocolate milk, yogurt, and frozen strawberries. If you’re using low sugar chocolate add the honey now too.

Blend on high on the smoothie setting, blending until it’s thick and creamy. Add a splash of milk if it needs to thin out a little or a few extra strawberries if it seems too thin.

Variations and Tips

Let the milk cool – I like to prep this ahead but it doesn’t need to cool too long, just 15 minutes to remove the heat. Pop it in the fridge/freezer to speed up the process.

Low Sugar White Chocolate – this is a great alternative if you’re wanting to make this for breakfast or are watching your sugar. As the recipe is written it’s more of a decadent/treat smoothie and not one intended for weight loss. This swap will make it lighter.

Adjust to your preference – writing smoothie recipes can be challenging because each time I make them it may take a splash more milk or a few ice cubes to reach my perfect texture. The blender you are using will greatly influence the outcome of the smoothie, so be prepared to tweak it somewhat to get it to your liking.

Notes

If you’re not looking to add extra sugar to this smoothie but like the idea of white chocolate, try Lily’s White Chocolate Chips. These are lower sugar and really good.
You can add protein powder to this smoothie without making any measurement adjustments. Vanilla or chocolate protein both work great. My favorite clean protein is Truvani
