I absolutely love remaking popular food and desserts and this Hostess Suzy Q’s Copycat Recipe is no exception. I was so excited when I saw these back on the store shelves! There are tons of recipes out there for the Ding Dongs and Hostess Cupcake, but this is less popular counterpart that is just as amazing and it’s the perfect little cake sandwich. I hope you love making this as much as I did! Read More

Keto Friendly High-Protein Chocolate Mug Cake
Can I just start by saying this keto friendly, high protein chocolate mug cake is only 200 calories?
I’ve been on a quest to find a complete replica of a brownie-like cake that could satisfy my instant gratification while not ruining all the hard work I’ve put into eating cleaner and working hard at the gym. Not a black bean brownie, nor fake sugar that leaves a gross aftertaste in your mouth. The past few years I’ve tried “healthy” sweets and yes, it can be good when you’re totally desperate, but I wanted better.
I was yearning for a true dessert that tasted like, well… dessert! There are really good keto recipes out there that are really good, but they are also high in fat and calories. Since I am not doing keto, I really don’t want the extra numbers in my dessert. So I am super excited to share this recipe with you today that can give us the best of both worlds.
Oh, and I forgot to mention this dessert is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, low carb/sugar, low fat and high protein!
200 CAL • 6g FAT • 11g CARBS • 4g SUGAR • 15g PROTEIN
School Cafeteria Brownies
These retro brownies make me reminisce on my elementary school days. I can taste the memories just by looking at these photos. Weren’t those school years just the good ole’ days!? When all you had to worry about was simple things (like , when is snack time?). It’s funny how we think back to our childhood and it’s often just the good stuff you remember. At least for me. Sure there were plenty of bad things too but I find it is interesting that I always look *back* when I think about the best times of my life. Total side bar, there is a quote from the final season of The Office when Andy says:
“I wish there was a way to know you are in the good ole days, before you’ve actually left them”.
Such a simple quote but I think about it often. Who knows what lies ahead for any of us, in just months or years from now you may look back on today and realize how lucky you are, how easy you had it, or how grateful you should’ve been. Sorry to get so deep on a post about brownies, LOL, but this feels very relevant to mental space lately. Read More
S’more Honey Cookie Squares
A soft honey cookie is the unique base on my version of s’mores! These are chewy, gooey, messy and AMAZING! Great for a no-frills crowd, kids, or just you! 🙂 Serve them rustic style, straight on the pan so each person can pull off their own cookies. Read More
Cherry Chocolate Valentine Heart Brownies
“Cherry chocolate rain. Pull me in with that delicious stare”. Do you remember that hilarious episode of The Office was when Michael Scott mentions the time he discovered YouTube and viewed Cookie Monster singing Chocolate Rain about a thousand times? Lol I can’t even! I sing this song whenever I think of cherry and chocolate together. Like while eating a chocolate chip cookie paired with an ice cold Dr. Pepper, or drinking a Black Forest milkshake. If you are a fan of these cherry-almond/chocolate combinations, this is going to be a fiesta in your boca (mouth). Read More
Copycat Almond Joy Candy Bars
Merry Christmas! Cheers to a perfectly lazy day. I am so happy to be on my couch relaxing watching movies… and now football. After months of running around and standing on my feet in the kitchen (about 10x more than normal) this is such a treat. I think I made one too many Christmas cookies (437 to be exact) this year and it was time to make something better, something that I absolutely adore – CANDY! So a few days ago, I decided to create a few copycat versions of some of my family’s favorite candies, but homemade with higher quality ingredients. I made York Peppermint Patties (recipe to follow) and Salted Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Patties (a take on See’s Candy) and lastly and my most favorite – Almond Joy’s! I think it’s a love/hate thing, depending on if you are a coconut eater. If you are in my boat and adore these, then you should be so happy that you have landed here on this page.
The best part about these is that you don’t need any special pan or any type of form… these are literally just a coconut mixture formed into shape, briefly frozen, then dipped in tempered chocolate (so you can get that hard snap when you bite it, and can be left at room temp). Read More
Salted Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Patties
I am beyond excited to share this recipe with you. Peanut butter patties from See’s Candy are by far one of my favorite treats of all times. We don’t have See’s Candy in Atlanta, so each Valentine’s Day and Christmas I receive a box of See’s Candy from my parents. It’s something I look sooo forward to twice a year. Although See’s Candy traditionally make their peanut butter patties with milk chocolate and no finishing salt on top, this was my 2.0 version, just enhancing it to make it even better! Read More
Triple Chocolate Dipped Cheesecake Bites
Many years ago, maybe in 2007-ish, there were these Sara Lee cheesecake bites they sold in the frozen section at grocery stores. They were so poppable, sort of like bon-bon’s but cheesecake instead. I remembered them a few weeks and began craving that poppable crunch that is sooo addictive. That crisp chocolate shell that snaps when you bite into it and creamy and delicate cheesecake in the middle!! OMG! So, here we are, fulfilling another food fantasy 🙂
Peanut Butter & Chocolate Shortbread Cups
I am soooooo freaking obsessed with these! There are three delicious layers wrapped into one cookie cup. Mind = blown.
- Crunchy, sweet, salty and buttery peanut shortbread
- Delicious peanut butter filling that’s very Reese’s – esque!
- Creamy dark chocolate ganache with a hint of sea salt Read More
Marbled Chewy Chocolatey Cheesecake Brownies
Cheesecake + Brownies = ♥ L.O.V.E. ♥
There are not many things better than combining two of the best desserts ever. My only regret about this recipe is that there isn’t twice as much three times as much cheesecake. When I remake this, I will double or maybe even triple the amount of cheesecake! It’s just so amazingly delicious and made me realize, I may be more of a cheesecake fan than I am a brownie fan. But it’s like 51/49. Read More
