Cool off this summer with Brazilian limeade, a refreshing blend of tangy lime and creamy sweetness. With fresh lime juice and sweetened condensed milk, it’s like sipping on key lime pie in a glass!

Looking for the perfect drink to beat the heat? This Brazilian limeade is the way to go. Bursting with bright, tangy citrus from fresh lime juice and zest, it’s incredibly refreshing (the ultimate thirst-quencher for summer days). The addition of sweetened condensed milk adds a velvety creaminess and just the right touch of sweetness to balance the tart of the lime juice. Think key lime pie in drink form—totally irresistible.
In 2024, I did a whole list of Summer Party Food Ideas. I didn’t end up making one for 2025, but if I did, this limeade would definitely be on there. It belongs poolside on a warm August day.
Why You’ll Love Brazilian Limeade
Want to know why this citrus-y bevvy is the ultimate summer sip? I’ll tell ya:
- Incredibly refreshing. This Brazilian limeade is the ultimate thirst-quencher. Made with fresh lime juice and zest (and LOTS of ice), it’s packed with bright, tangy citrus flavor that’s perfect for those sweltering summer days (or whenever you need a pick-me-up).
- Creamy and dreamy. The addition of sweetened condensed milk takes this limeade to the next level. It adds a sweet, rich, velvety creaminess that perfectly balances the tartness of the lime. It’s almost giving key lime pie vibes!
- Customizable to the max. Want to make it your own? This limeade is endlessly versatile. Add a spicy kick with muddled jalapeno, make it bubbly with sparkling water, or turn it into a cocktail by adding your favorite spirit. Check out the “Variation Ideas” section below for more ideas!

Key Ingredients
With only 3 ingredients (well…4 if you count the water), this Brazilian limeade is pretty low maintenance. Here’s what you’ll need (see the recipe card below for precise measurements):
- Water – This is the base of the limeade, so make sure you’re using filtered water you enjoy as is.
- Fresh limes – You’ll need the juice, the zest, and the lime wedges for serving.
- Granulated sugar – You could use coconut sugar instead.
- Sweetened condensed milk – Make sure you grab sweetened condensed milk, NOT evaporated milk. The cans often look similar, but they are not the same.
How to Make Brazilian Limeade
Here’s a quick look at how to make this easy summery beverage. Don’t forget to scroll to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions.
- Prep the limes. Wash the limes and zest them. Set aside the zest and juice the limes.
- Mix. In a large pitcher, mix together the water, lime juice, zest, and sugar.
- Sweeten. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk a few tablespoons at a time to reach your desired sweetness/creaminess. Taste and adjust as needed.
- Serve. Serve with lots of ice and lime wedges.

Tips for Success
Take some time to read through these simple tips and tricks. They’ll help you get this limeade just right.
- Fresh, please. Squeeze the lime juice (and grate the lime zest) straight from the fruit. Bottled lime juice is often overly acidic, and there’s no way dried lime zest would be good here.
- Dissolve. When mixing together the water, lime juice, zest, and sugar, mix until the sugar has dissolved. Otherwise, it’ll all sink to the bottom.
- Sweeten gradually. Add the sweetened condensed milk a few tablespoons at a time, mixing it in and tasting it as you go to test for sweetness and creaminess. Remember, you can always add more, but you can’t take it away!
- No blending. It might be tempting to make this limeade in a blender, but I wouldn’t do it as it tends to yield bitter results.
- Lots o’ ice. This limeade is best served VERY cold! So don’t hold back on the ice.
Variation Ideas
One thing that I love about this Brazilian refresher is that it’s super versatile, so you can easily make it your own. Here are some ideas for you:
- Add some heat. Want to spice things up? Muddle some jalapeno slices at the bottom of the pitcher before filling it.
- Make it bubbly. If you’d like to replace the water with bubbly water for a little fizz, you totally can!
- Coconutty twist. Instead of sweetened condensed milk, you can use coconut cream to add to the tropical vibe (and make the drink dairy-free). You could also replace the water with coconut water.
- Fruity additions. If you need a slight break from the lime, you can add a splash of pineapple, orange, or guava juice to the pitcher.
- Make it boozy. Want to turn this into a fun adult beverage? Mix a few shots of gin or tequila into the pitcher! If you can get your hands on some cachaça (Brazil’s favored spirit), use that instead!
How to Store
- Refrigerator. Got leftovers? No problem. Remove any ice from the limeade before sealing it in a mason jar (or covering the pitcher with plastic wrap). It’ll keep in the fridge for ~5 days. Serve over ice when you’re ready.
- Freezer. Remove the ice from the limeade and transfer it to a mason jar (or another similar airtight, freezer-safe container). Store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready, let it thaw in the fridge, add a bunch of ice, and get to sippin’!

What Goes With Brazilian Limeade?
Brazilian limeade is a versatile drink that pairs well with a variety of foods. Its tangy, refreshing flavor works great with grilled meats, like my Cowboy Butter Steak (Brazilians are BIG on their grilled meats). It’s also the perfect complement to Brazil’s iconic feijoada, a hearty meat and bean stew that’s packed with rich, savory flavors. Add a slice or two of my Easy Garlic Bread or pão de queijo (Brazil’s favorite cheese bread) to the mix, and you’re all set!
For lighter options, try pairing it with salads, tropical fruits, or seafood.
