Meat Lovers Pizza Dip

Layers of spicy Italian sausage, cupping pepperoni, fresh mozzarella and ricotta make this desconstructed pizza dip a crowd favorite!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. spicy italian sausage
  • 24 oz marinara sauce quality brand like Rao's Homemade or similar
  • 3 oz pepperoni I used cupping pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup fresh ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella
  • 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1/2 tsp each dried oregano, salt, and pepper
  • fresh basil for garnish
  • Breadsticks, garlic bread, etc for serving I used frozen garlic breadsticks and texas toast

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
    Add the Italian sausage to a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until the sausage is no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula. Remove all excess grease from the pan.
  • Add a 24 oz. jar of marinara sauce, stir well, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 5 minutes to allow it to warm through. Top with dollops of ricotta cheese then add sprinkle seasonings in.
    Place on half of the pepperoni then top it with the shredded mozzarella and parmesan evenly to cover the entire surface. Add more pepperoni then finish off with the fresh mozzarella.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 3-5 minutes. Garnish with basil and serve.
