yessss! these are 1) so darn cute and 2) beyond tempting. and when I say tempting, I mean i really want to run to the pantry now and start gathering ingredients. Love!
September 16, 2017 at 5:44 pm
Haha! These are probably the best cupcakes I've ever eaten. Even though it's a bit time consuming with the four different elements (cake, ganache, filling, swirl). It's worth every minute in the kitchen. And even easier if you make-ahead the filling and swirl. But there is a bit of self loathing that comes shortly after you realize you have zero self control after taking your first bite :) LOL when you make them, let me know what you think!
September 26, 2017 at 9:01 pm
Hi Jessica - all of the ingredients are definitely there. I just went back through and confirmed each line... It looks like the recipe somehow broke the filling ingredients into two sections, so they were spread out in the recipe. So glad you caught this error! That would've been frustrating. I corrected it and now it should read perfectly. Thanks again!! :)

These look wonderful, and I love the story behind them! I think it's good to be guided by curiosity when it comes to baking - esp when the results are so delicious!

I'm excited to try these! My other attempts at mini chocolate chip cookies haven't had as great results. These look excellent.
How many cups chocolate chips did you use in the recipe? Regular sized or mini? Thanks!
October 18, 2017 at 11:07 pm
Me too! Mini cookies in the past have never turned out for me the same way regular ones do. But these will absolutely not let you down, that's a guarantee. People were seriously obsessed. Also, I definitely used mini chocolate chips since these cookies were small. If you decide to make these, please come back and let me know how you liked them.
February 2, 2018 at 3:44 pm
Hi Cathy - I am so sorry! Thank you for catching this. I just updated the recipe to reflect the measurement of chocolate chips. I used a whole bag of mini chocolate chips so they are chock-full of chocolate chips. If you want to use less, you can do 2 cups or so. Thank you again! :)

Who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies especially with a well-written instruction?! I'm always up for trying new recipes so I will have to give this one a try!
I'm so glad I found this.
Thanks so much Mallory for putting this together.

Good question! It's absolutely perfect without protein powder. Sometimes I do it that way too. You don't really need to change the measurements at all. Sometimes I will add a splash more or less almond milk based on how it's blending together.
If you still wanted to add a little chocolate flavor, you could always add a few teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder. Let me know how you like it :)

Firstly, this pic is looking too tempting and I really want to try this at home. Also I really appreciate healthy moto behind this recipe. Amazing! Great work.

Hi Mallory,
By the looks of this, I am sure it's going to be a family favorite! :) It will feel like Disney at home every day! haha
Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Cheers,

You can also make this by melting whatever flavor baking chips you like (butterscotch, chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate, etc) and adding coconut oil. It will harden immediately when it hits the ice cream. Maybe not exactly the same as DQ, but still really great. I don't know how to replicate the cherry shell, though. That one is beautiful!

Hi Mallory!
I'm not sure how I got here. I was searching for low carb recipes. This recipe was not what I was looking for but I shared it with my grandmother who likes making sweets. My grandchildren are looking forward to eating them this weekend. Thanks!

Why bread flour instead of AP flour? Other copy cats I have seen use AP. Yours is the first with bread flour and I am just wondering why.
September 8, 2019 at 8:41 pm
Hi Angela! Great question. The recipe is intended to use the combination of bread & cake flours to get the perfect soft and chewy texture. The bread flour always requires a bit more moisture, hence the reason for the two egg yolks and brown sugar instead of all granulated white sugar. I experimented with a few different measurements and flour types before I achieved (what seems to me) to be the perfect Sweet Martha's cookie!

I miss those little sandwich s so much. They were about 45 cents and I would by them for my little girl and myself. We were so disappointed when they were no longer available. The best little chicken sandwich ever!

Haha there is such a thing lol they have it at the Kroger in my neighborhood. But it may be hard to find. As I mention to you in my IG message, it’s perfectly fine to use whatever you can find and it’ll still turn out fantastic. It’s just my preference, the richer the better. I’m excited you’re making this, I can’t wait to see the results.

I am so excited to have found you and this recipe! I too have been searching the northwest for this. I had it in oregon. My aunt brought us to a chinese restaurant I think it was close to west Linn like 20 years ago and I have never forgotten the taste. I just asked my aunt about and she said they closed. Super sad. I'm excited to try your recipe! Thank you again.

OMG this makes me so happy! I made this recipe thinking I was the only one on the planet that was searching for this style of Sesame Chicken. Everyone here in Atlanta thinks I am crazy when I ask for it at restaurants. I feel so misunderstood haha. I hope you do make this recipe, you will be the happiest person! I make it almost once a month, it's my husbands #1 favorite recipe and he was one of the people who heard me talk about it for years and didn't understand. Now he won't touch the saucy type of sesame chicken, he only wants it crunchy and from my kitchen. Please keep me updated if you try it :)
January 26, 2020 at 2:16 pm
Hi Lora, you certainly can, I would just make sure they aren't too thin. Some brands like Perdue make them paper thin and that won't work. If it's the thickness of a halved chicken breast, that's perfect! Enjoy :)
January 26, 2020 at 2:17 pm
Thanks so much, Sandy. This comment made my day! It's a recipe in my weekly smoothie rotation, I love it so much. Glad I could share it with you.

The McGriddles can definitely be frozen and microwaved when ready to eat. When making them ahead, allow them to cool completely and put them in an airtight container to avoid freezer burn. I haven't attempted to freeze and re-heat fried chicken, but you can freeze it and reheat it in an oven at 375 for about 10-15 minutes. Hope you enjoy these!
February 19, 2020 at 10:37 pm
This sounds amazing! I've heard so much about the popeyes chicken sandwich and I love po' boys. The bun can make all the difference, do you have a favorite or suggestion? Thanks for sharing!
February 22, 2020 at 1:15 am
I have a deep fryer and I find I have to keep it in for more like 15 minutes than 5 minutes, otherwise the chicken doesn't cook.

Omg! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!! This is my favorite TS and now I can make it myself! It’s amazing!! You made my day!
March 3, 2020 at 2:11 am
Hi Jake - I am so sorry to hear that! Sounds like something went wrong. Did you use ice? I know that's a silly question but I am wondering how it wasn't cold if ice was used. Not roasting the banana shouldn't really change the texture, temperature or make it dry. It will just affect the flavor a bit. Perhaps try using a bit more almond milk. I find that with smoothies, each time I have to always make small tweaks, they just never come out identical each time. If it's too thick just add a few splashes of almond milk / milk into your smoothie until it looses up a little. You can also cut back on the oats a bit as well. Sure hope this works out better for you the next time you try it. I usually get rave reviews and wish you had the same experience.
March 3, 2020 at 2:12 am
Another thing that just occurred to me - it could be the type of protein powder you are using as some are totally different. Try cutting it back to just one scoop and see how that works. Good Luck!!
March 19, 2020 at 3:57 pm
Made it last night and it was fantastic. Chicken was tender and juicy. Sauce was tasty but I had to kick up the heat a little more with more hot sauce. Can’t wait to make it again.

I was looking for a recipe that showed the ingredients that was on the menu. So far none show Fontina cheese but yours. Yet yours is not showing Romano cheese. Can I substitute the Philadelphia Cream Cheese for the Romano cheese or do I just add 4 oz of Romano cheese to the recipe? I hate they stopped selling it. I used to just do a order of the fondue for take-out cause I loved it. I never even thought it had cream cheese I would had imagine it had more equal parts but if not then to make it more fondue like then more fontina cheese and more mozzarella just cause its the cheapest to put in. Give me your thoughts I need them. On yelp they have an old menu that shows what cheeses were in it I would assume if cream cheese was in it they would had written cream cheese.
April 26, 2020 at 12:55 am
Hi Liz,
I tried it a few different ways but found cream cheese gave it the texture I was looking for and elevated the dish. Parmesan and Romano are easily interchangeable, Romano is a bit more pungent/salty so you can easily swap the parm for Romano! The key to the whole recipe is freshly grated cheese. This recipe is soooo incredible you will be very happy you made it. Let me tell you, I actually forgot how much I loved it. I decided to make it for an Oscar party this year along with a bunch of other fun appetizers but I ended up making a whole meal out of just this Fonduta! Let me know how you like it :-)
June 22, 2020 at 4:33 pm
Hello Ilayda! This would be delicious, but you'd have to bake them in a donut pan instead of frying. It would be less like a donut and more like a bundt cake. But none the less, it would still be chocolate and it would still be delicious :)

I literally just opened my computer after coming home from TSC with a Chia Banana Max in hand, looking for a recipe. Yours was the top result (as a marketer, well done, haha) and I am so excited to try it! The recipe sounds great and the comments are encouraging.
I also second the comment about getting right into the recipe and not having a long trailing story :) can't wait to dig through your blog some more now!

Hi!
I am so excited to see this !! I wanted to know if I can make it ahead and reheat it Want to take it with me for a weekend getaway with friends Thank you!!!
July 29, 2020 at 8:19 pm
Hi There - just saw this and wanted to get back right away. I have only tried reheating it after a few hours. Will you have access to an oven at the getaway? If so, I’d bake it at home but save the tomato and broil step for when you reheat in the oven. Then it will heat the cheese back up, brown the top and warm the tomatoes. the tomatoes will weep if you put them on too early.
I hope that helps! Let me know how it goes!
September 8, 2020 at 5:18 pm
How much almond milk do you use? It is probably just me but I can't see that anywhere on the recipe. I see that you say to start with the almond milk but not the amount. I am just beginning to make smoothies and haven't quite figured out the portions yet.
However, I am excited to try this recipe. (I agree with the other reviews, I appreciate that you don't write out a long drawn out story or thoughts before you get to the recipe.!!!)
September 8, 2020 at 5:40 pm
It is 1 cup of almond milk! You should find that amount to be successful, if you like your smoothies thinner in texture you can always add more almond milk after it blends and blend for a second round.
Thanks so much for the feedback, I am sure it would help my SEO If I rambled more LOL, but I much prefer a user friendly experience for my readers than to “pay the price” by long page loads full of ads and 500 feet of blah blah blah before getting to the recipe. Hehe :)

Love the duo dip going to finally give it a try this weekend. Thanks for the cheese tips, l have fontina, smoked mozzarella, parmesan, cream cheese need to get some romano and see how this works.
September 29, 2020 at 7:27 pm
Hi Kim! I LOVE the dip duo too. Sadly, they took it off the menu in the Atlanta area so I am so glad I made this recipe right after trying this dish. It's one of the best dips ever! You will be completely obsessed with this recipe. You can use Parmesan as well if you don't have romano on hand. Please come back and let me know what you think. Thank you for reading my blog!

Try to make this this morning and I'm a little confused. Your text says to add ingredients to blender starting with almond milk and ending with ice, but there's no almond milk in the recipe? And when you say one banana, do you mean one whole banana, or one quarter of banana since we cut them to roast them? Thanks!
July 29, 2021 at 7:59 pm
Hi Sam - yes absolutely! You can prepare it per the recipe and then refer to your air fryer instruction for the cook time. You could use the oven as well!

Actually 4.5 stars. I'm mainly looking for the sauce copycat. I've tried a few and this is by the closest. In fact, it is close enough to where I think I can improve on it and do better than the original. Thanks much.

What brand of stuffed chocolate covered stuffed peanut butter pretzels? I have never seen them around here in the PNW.
The recipe looks delish!
August 11, 2021 at 2:17 pm
Hi Cynthia - I have found these in two main places. Some grocery stores sell Flipz brand "Stuff'd" pretzels. Those are the ones I used and they are delicious! You can locate them here: https://www.flipz.com/find-a-store/ I just put in a random Portland zip code and found them at CVS Pharmacy's.
You can also buy Trader Joe's brand and those are sold nationwide at TJ's stores. These ones are not as good as Flipz (surprisingly) but they are still really good!
Hopefully one of those two will help :)
October 11, 2021 at 4:47 pm
Hi Allison, I typically use canola or vegetable oil which I find is most economical for frying foods. You can also use peanut oil or any oil you prefer that has a high smoke point.
October 16, 2021 at 3:18 pm
Yes, absolutely! Just skip the broiling part at the end. You won’t have the browned cheese bubbles on top but it won’t be any less delicious! Let me know how it turns out :)
October 30, 2021 at 8:15 pm
It’s a great question. They use roasted bananas in the store, so I am just duplicating how they do it. Fresh bananas still taste fantastic, I’ve done it this way many times. But roasting the bananas brings out a deeper, toasty flavor.
December 25, 2021 at 10:39 pm
I haven’t tried this recipe yet because I just got a blender for Christmas! This is my addiction for TS and am thrilled I can make it at home now. Quick question: how many strawberries would I use to make it like TS’s version? I don’t eat peanut butter. Thank you, so much!
December 26, 2021 at 12:44 am
Awesome. You’ll have to let me know how it goes. TS uses one cup of (frozen unthawed) strawberries if you do those instead of peanut butter.

Soooooo I must have done something terribly wrong. My mix was more of a cookie dough or biscuit dough. I was so excited to make these because I love pistachio, and I triple checked my ingredients and didn’t miss anything but I was short on liquid somewhere. My only change was using Cup 4 Cup gluten free flour (I can’t eat wheat) which supposedly can be a straight substitute for standard flour. Any pointers?

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that. Nothing worse than wasted ingredients! Yes, the dough is very thick, which I will make sure to emphasize in my recipe. But the 2 cups of flour can be too much if it's not spoon measured and it can also thicken if it's over-mixed. I re-made them this weekend and recorded a video which I'll post soon to help show the texture of the dough. I hope you get a chance to try these again!

August 9, 2018 at 10:06 pm You can also make this by melting whatever flavor baking chips you like (butterscotch, chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate, etc) and adding coconut oil. It will harden immediately when it hits the ice cream. Maybe not exactly the same as DQ, but still really great. I don't know how to replicate the cherry shell, though. That one is beautiful!Andy Bishop
September 7, 2018 at 8:48 am Hi Mallory! I'm not sure how I got here. I was searching for low carb recipes. September 6, 2019 at 10:51 pm Why bread flour instead of AP flour? Other copy cats I have seen use AP. Yours is the first with bread flour and I am just wondering why.badbatch
September 8, 2019 at 8:41 pm Hi Angela! Great question. The recipe is intended to use the combination of bread & cake flours to get the perfect soft and chewy texture. The bread flour always requires a bit more moisture, hence the reason for the two egg yolks and brown sugar instead of all granulated white sugar. I experimented with a few different measurements and flour types before I achieved (what seems to me) to be the perfect Sweet Martha's cookie!Carol Face
October 19, 2019 at 10:02 pm I miss those little sandwich s so much. They were about 45 cents and I would by them for my little girl and myself. We were so disappointed when they were no longer available. The best little chicken sandwich ever!badbatch

November 9, 2019 at 3:00 pm Haha there is such a thing lol they have it at the Kroger in my neighborhood. But it may be hard to find. January 5, 2020 at 7:48 pm I am so excited to have found you and this recipe! I too have been searching the northwest for this. I had it in oregon. I'm excited to try your recipe! Thank you again.badbatch
January 26, 2020 at 2:13 pm OMG this makes me so happy! Please keep me updated if you try it :)Lora
January 6, 2020 at 1:54 am Can you use thin sliced chicken breast for thisbadbatch
January 26, 2020 at 2:16 pm Hi Lora, you certainly can, I would just make sure they aren't too thin. Some brands like Perdue make them paper thin and that won't work. If it's the thickness of a halved chicken breast, that's perfect! Enjoy :)Sandy

January 10, 2020 at 4:57 pm Can you freeze these and rewarm them?badbatch
January 26, 2020 at 2:08 pm The McGriddles can definitely be frozen and microwaved when ready to eat. When making them ahead, allow them to cool completely and put them in an airtight container to avoid freezer burn. I haven't attempted to freeze and re-heat fried chicken, but you can freeze it and reheat it in an oven at 375 for about 10-15 minutes. Hope you enjoy these!tasty pizza in madhapur

March 2, 2020 at 12:08 pm my smoothie wasn’t cold and the texture was too thick and dry. Is it because i didn’t roast the banana? Any suggestions?badbatch
March 3, 2020 at 2:11 am Hi Jake - I am so sorry to hear that! I usually get rave reviews and wish you had the same experience.badbatch
March 3, 2020 at 2:12 am Another thing that just occurred to me - it could be the type of protein powder you are using as some are totally different. Try cutting it back to just one scoop and see how that works. Good Luck!!Rccola
March 19, 2020 at 3:57 pm Made it last night and it was fantastic. Chicken was tender and juicy. Sauce was tasty but I had to kick up the heat a little more with more hot sauce. Can’t wait to make it again.Keisha Taylor

April 26, 2020 at 12:01 am I was looking for a recipe that showed the ingredients that was on the menu. On yelp they have an old menu that shows what cheeses were in it I would assume if cream cheese was in it they would had written cream cheese.badbatch
April 26, 2020 at 12:55 am Hi Liz, I tried it a few different ways but found cream cheese gave it the texture I was looking for and elevated the dish. Let me know how you like it :-)keisha taylor

June 22, 2020 at 4:33 pm Hello Ilayda! This would be delicious, but you'd have to bake them in a donut pan instead of frying. It would be less like a donut and more like a bundt cake. But none the less, it would still be chocolate and it would still be delicious :)Trice

May 20, 2020 at 6:11 pm I literally just opened my computer after coming home from TSC with a Chia Banana Max in hand, looking for a recipe. I also second the comment about getting right into the recipe and not having a long trailing story :) can't wait to dig through your blog some more now!Kevin
May 30, 2020 at 6:34 am Hello Mallory, As I have noticed, the ingredients were plenty compared to a normal coffee. But I think it's all worth it. The smell of the spices is enough to make my day. Thanks for the wonderful images you shared with us.Jane
July 29, 2020 at 6:07 pm Hi! I am so excited to see this !! I wanted to know if I can make it ahead and reheat it Want to take it with me for a weekend getaway with friends Thank you!!!badbatch
July 29, 2020 at 8:19 pm Hi There - just saw this and wanted to get back right away. Let me know how it goes!kylsons

September 8, 2020 at 5:18 pm How much almond milk do you use? It is probably just me but I can't see that anywhere on the recipe. I see that you say to start with the almond milk but not the amount. I am just beginning to make smoothies and haven't quite figured out the portions yet. However, I am excited to try this recipe. (I agree with the other reviews, I appreciate that you don't write out a long drawn out story or thoughts before you get to the recipe.!!!)badbatch
September 8, 2020 at 5:40 pm It is 1 cup of almond milk! February 14, 2021 at 1:47 pm Try to make this this morning and I'm a little confused. Your text says to add ingredients to blender starting with almond milk and ending with ice, but there's no almond milk in the recipe? And when you say one banana, do you mean one whole banana, or one quarter of banana since we cut them to roast them? Thanks!badbatch

August 11, 2021 at 5:05 am What brand of stuffed chocolate covered stuffed peanut butter pretzels? I have never seen them around here in the PNW. The recipe looks delish!badbatch
August 11, 2021 at 2:17 pm Hi Cynthia - I have found these in two main places. Hopefully one of those two will help :)Allison
October 11, 2021 at 3:51 pm What oil do you recommend using to dry the chicken??badbatch
October 11, 2021 at 4:47 pm Hi Allison, I typically use canola or vegetable oil which I find is most economical for frying foods. You can also use peanut oil or any oil you prefer that has a high smoke point.Megan

October 30, 2021 at 6:35 pm Why roasted bananas? Is there a benefit than just fresh bananas? Just wondering!badbatch
October 30, 2021 at 8:15 pm It’s a great question. They use roasted bananas in the store, so I am just duplicating how they do it. Fresh bananas still taste fantastic, I’ve done it this way many times. But roasting the bananas brings out a deeper, toasty flavor.Terri
December 25, 2021 at 10:39 pm I haven’t tried this recipe yet because I just got a blender for Christmas! This is my addiction for TS and am thrilled I can make it at home now. Quick question: how many strawberries would I use to make it like TS’s version? I don’t eat peanut butter. Thank you, so much!badbatch
December 26, 2021 at 12:44 am Awesome. You’ll have to let me know how it goes. TS uses one cup of (frozen unthawed) strawberries if you do those instead of peanut butter.Bbq rub seasoning

February 23, 2022 at 2:52 pm Soooooo I must have done something terribly wrong. March 13, 2022 at 4:21 pm Oh no! I hope you get a chance to try these again!Mollie
